Holiday week events at the National Constitution Center
Need a break from a hectic week of Constitutional news? If you are in the Philadelphia area, here’s an inside look at Independence Day week at the National Constitution Center.
Philadelphia is the home of Independence Day, and our festivities start with a Fourth of July Kick-off Party on June 28.
The party includes all-American fare, drinks, live musical performances and access to From Asbury Park to the Promised Land: The Life and Music of Bruce Springsteen. (Paid admission required.)
Between June 28 and July 4, there are also a series of Overlook shows in our lobby, which include a look at the history of the Fourth of July, Flag Etiquette, the Star Spangled Banner and Elections.
Also, at least three Continental Army regiments, including soldiers, camp followers, medical facilities, black smiths will be encamped at the Center between July 2 and July 4. There will be multiple demonstrations throughout the day.
On July 3, the 28th Division Band Performance will be on hand playing some of American’s most beloved tunes at 11:30 a.m.
On July 4, the School of Rock will also be here at 11:30 a.m.
And on July 5, we host a special Evening Program with Daily Show writer Kevin Bleyer at 6 p.m. Bleyer talks about how he rewrote the Constitution in his new book, Me the People.
