Message from key GOP speakers: America, Romney, jobs

After two days of prime-time speeches at the Republican convention, an analysis of key speeches shows a clear message emerging from the convention.

Constitution Daily took the prepared remarks for 13 major speakers on Tuesday and Wednesday in Tampa, and processed their words using Tag Crowd, a Web-based keyword-analysis service.

The analysis showed the topics of “American” and “Romney” were the most-mentioned phrases in the speeches from Paul Ryan, Susana Martinez, Condoleezza Rice, Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, Tim Pawlenty, John McCain, Chris Christie, Ann Romney, Nikki Haley, Rick Santorum, John Boehner, and Scott Walker.

In fact, mentions of President Barack Obama, while plentiful, weren’t near the top of the list.

In all, there were about 22,000 words spoken by the 13 speakers in the prepared remarks, with about 2,300 recognized as unique keywords.

A look at the keywords from the individual speeches shows a few interesting trends. Paul Ryan didn’t mention President Obama’s name the most, while Condoleezza Rice’s most-used keyword was “world.” Scott Walker talked about jobs the most.

Mike Huckabee and Tim Pawlenty invoked “Obama” the most among their carefully chosen words.
