In the wake of Edward Snowden’s leak of National Security Agency documents to the press, The National Constitution Center and The Constitution Project combine for a look at security and privacy.
At our live event, Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut spoke about recently introduced bills that would ensure the FISA courts properly balance the need to protect national security with constitutional requirements to safeguard an individual’s rights to privacy and liberty.
Senator Blumenthal, former Senior Counsel at the FBI and Deputy Director of the National Counterintelligence Executive M.E. “Spike” Bowman, Angela Canterbury from the Project On Government Oversight, Alexander W. Joel from the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and former FISA Judge James Robertson discussed the proposed changes in detail, and why they are necessary.
